Scotland in Autumn

Thanks to Rafaela and Angus I got my first chance to visit Scotland. I went there for the wedding, but since in November isn’t a high peak of the wedding season, I had time to explore the beauties of this super nice country. It is good to travel to Scotland in Autumn? Check photos and find out by yourself.

Edingburgh and hitting the road

Early in the morning, we had time to explore the city a bit. It is quite impressive with the castle on the hill in the middle of the city. But you dont go to Scotland for exploring the cities, but for the beauty of the landscape. So we woke up before the sunrise, took a look in to the city and after breakfast we went straight to the direction of Skye. We had a 400 km journey ahead of us. With sunsets at 4 in the afternoon, the days are quite short and we didn’t want to drive through amazing landscape during the night. I was traveling with my friend that is also a photographer so we had quite a lot of stops!

The Isle of Skye

We stayed for 2 days on the Isle of Skye. It is very popular by its rugged landscapes, picturesque fishing villages and medieval castles. The Storr is probably the most popular attraction there. Unlucky, when we got there it was raining and it was covered with fog and the view didn’t reach the next rock formation. From the photos, you can see that the worth visiting it.

After The Storr we went further north to the island. Because of the unpredictable weather, we couldn’t take any hike. At some point, it was sunny, few moments later it was raining. But the landscape and the sky were amazing .

Few moments before sunset we arrived to Neist point lighthouse. Such a cool spot to finish the day.

The second day of visiting the Isle of Storr the rain was so heavy that we had to stay inside the car most of the time. We visited Brewery of Talisker whiskey and I had the opportunity to check the stability of my Mavic Air drone in heavy rain and wind. It impressed me a lot!

The plan was to go to the Fairy Pools – another one of the main attractions of The Isle of Skye, but the crossing of the river was flooding because of too heavy rain and getting there was impossible. Maybe some other time. 🙂

Loch Ness and Glen Affric

We would have stayed on the Isle of Skye longer, but the weather forecast was bad also for the next day. Therefore, we moved to the Highlands and went to search for the monsters early in the morning. Nessie didn’t show up this time. But the view at sunrise over the Loch Ness was spectacular. After we moved to the Glen Affric that it showed us with very diverse autumn colors.

Highlands tourist route

It was already the 5th day in Scotland and it was time to get closer to Aberdeen for the big Scottish-Brazilian wedding that I brought me to Scotland in the first place. We just followed Highlands tourist route to get to the Aberdeen. It offers with some spectacular views (especially from above) and very nice castles (even pink ones).

Thank you for watching. Yes, Scotland! Visiting you in Autumn is great. Especially for photos. Maybe I lost one day during these travels because of the bad weather, but being almost alone at the main attractions and lower prices of accommodation pay it off. I am looking forward to visiting you again.

You can expect photos of the wedding in Scotland very soon. After that also from my recent travels in Thailand, Laos, Singapore, and Australia. Stay tuned and check other travels HERE. 🙂
