Catania Wedding Photographer
with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Catania was rebuilt almost entirely after the 1693 earthquake, in the black lava stone quarried straight from Etna’s own slopes, which is why its baroque center reads so differently from anywhere else in Sicily, dark, dramatic facades under a volcano that is still, quietly, active. The historic core is part of the Val di Noto UNESCO listing, and behind its unassuming street-level walls sit private palazzi with hanging gardens and frescoed halls that most visitors walking past never see.
This page covers Catania city itself. The Sicily region page covers the Etna countryside separately, working wineries and eco-resorts higher up the mountain’s slopes, so if you already have your heart set on an estate among the vineyards, that page is the better starting point. This one is for a wedding inside the city, a civil ceremony under real frescoes, a reception on a seafront terrace with Etna on the skyline. Below are three venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Catania
Catania works just as beautifully for intimate elopements as it does for larger and multi-day celebrations.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Catania: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Catania as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Best Wedding Venues in Catania
Three venues in Catania, from Palazzo Biscari’s Rococo balcony to Palazzo Manganelli’s hanging garden and a seafront hotel under Mount Etna.

Palazzo Biscari, Via Museo Biscari
The largest private palace in Sicily, built by the Biscari princes and still partly family-owned, Palazzo Biscari carries Catania’s single most photographed architectural feature, a wrought Rococo balcony that has become shorthand for the city’s baroque identity. Inside, roughly 500 square meters of frescoed halls give a civil ceremony or reception real scale without leaving the historic center, and the palace’s own event team handles catering and coordination directly.
Palazzo Manganelli, Piazza Manganelli
Rebuilt in late Baroque and Rococo style after the 1693 earthquake, on foundations dating back to the 1400s, Palazzo Manganelli hides a genuine surprise behind its street facade, a two-level hanging garden built directly into Catania’s medieval city walls, with a nymphaeum and two fountains threaded through the terraces. The piano nobile’s ballrooms carry 1870s frescoes by Giuseppe Sciuti and Ernesto Bellandi, and the garden alone makes this palazzo feel like a different building depending on whether you’re photographing indoors or out.
Romano Palace Luxury Hotel, Via Kennedy
For a couple who wants the ceremony itself to feel less like stepping into a museum, Romano Palace sits on Catania’s seafront inside its own 15,000-square-meter private park, with Etna visible above the tree line and the sea on the other side. It’s a more contemporary alternative to the historic palazzi, useful for a couple who wants full hotel infrastructure, guest rooms, a pool, air conditioning in August, without leaving the city.
Your Catania Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, a Catania wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Looking for More of Sicily?
This page covers Catania city, its baroque historic center and immediate seafront, distinct from the Sicily region page it sits under. Looking for more of Sicily? See the full regional guide for Mount Etna’s wineries and eco-resorts, plus venues across the rest of the island, or check out the Messina page and the Palermo page.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this page different from your Sicily region page?
The region page covers Mount Etna’s countryside, working wine estates and eco-resorts higher up the mountain’s slopes, along with venues on the other side of the island. This page is specifically Catania city, its baroque historic center and immediate seafront.
What’s the best season for a Catania wedding?
May, June, September and October, for the same reason as most of Sicily, comfortable temperatures for a civil ceremony indoors and a terrace reception outdoors. July and August get genuinely hot in the city center, where stone streets hold heat long after sunset.
Which airport should our guests use?
Catania Fontanarossa, one of the most convenient airports on this entire site, sits about 15 minutes from the historic center. It’s also Sicily’s busiest airport, so flight options into Catania tend to be better than into Palermo or the smaller regional airports.
Does Etna cause any problems for a wedding here?
Rarely, and when it does it’s usually just a light ash haze on a given day rather than anything that affects the wedding itself. Etna is one of the world’s most active volcanoes and erupts often, but Catania sits far enough from the crater that daily life, and weddings, carry on normally. If anything, a plume of smoke on the horizon makes for a striking, very Sicilian photograph.
Do we need a wedding planner for a palazzo wedding in Catania?
Helpful, especially at Palazzo Biscari and Palazzo Manganelli, both privately owned historic properties with their own booking calendars and house rules rather than a standard hotel process. A planner who has worked with a Catania palazzo before can save real back-and-forth on permitting and timing.
