Aberdeen Wedding Photographer
with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Aberdeen is known as the Granite City, and that stone shows up everywhere, in its grandest hotels as much as its harbour. The real choice here is between a mansion on the city’s own edge and a country estate out in Aberdeenshire. This page looks at Aberdeen specifically, separate from the Scotland country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country.
I photograph weddings across the city and its surrounds, a reception in a Victorian mansion, a ceremony in a countryside manor, portraits along the granite coast or out at a clifftop ruin nearby. Below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Aberdeen
Aberdeen’s venues cover a wide range, from an intimate ceremony for a handful of guests up to a 400-guest exclusive-use weekend.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Aberdeen: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Aberdeen as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Wedding Venues in Aberdeen
Two grand hotels on the edge of the city, a baronial manor out in Aberdeenshire, and a clifftop ruin for portraits nearby.

Ardoe House Hotel & Spa
A 19th-century mansion with its original turrets and spires, about three miles from Aberdeen’s city centre at Blairs, set in 30 acres. The listing gives a capacity of 400 for a ceremony, standing reception and seated meal combined; I’d confirm the breakdown by individual room directly, since that figure isn’t split out space by space.
Marcliffe Hotel & Spa
A family-owned hotel on North Deeside Road at Pitfodels, described by its own materials as both on the city’s outskirts and in the West End, worth clarifying when you visit. It holds seven rooms catering from 18 to 400 guests across its events generally, earned an AA five-star rating in 2025, and added a neighbouring 14-acre estate the same year.
Meldrum House Country Hotel
A 13th-century baronial manor at Oldmeldrum, honestly out in the Aberdeenshire countryside rather than the city itself, roughly half an hour’s drive. Its spaces include a Ballroom, private dining rooms and a Titan Sky Bar; no guest capacities are published, so I’d confirm numbers directly with the venue’s wedding team.
Your Aberdeen Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, an Aberdeen wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

You send me a message with a few details about your wedding.
We schedule a free consultation call to understand your plans, your priorities, and see if our approach aligns.
If it feels right, we move forward – and on the day itself, you can be fully present while I take care of documenting everything.
Looking for More of Scotland?
This page covers Aberdeen specifically, distinct from the Scotland page it sits under. Looking for more of Scotland? See the full country guide for venues elsewhere in the country too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which of these venues is actually closest to Aberdeen city centre?
Ardoe House and the Marcliffe are both genuinely on the city’s edge, a few miles out at most. Meldrum House is honestly out in the Aberdeenshire countryside, around half an hour’s drive, worth factoring into guest transport.
What’s the best time of year for an Aberdeen wedding?
May through September is most reliable, though the North Sea coast brings wind as much as rain into the planning, worth a sheltered backup plan for any outdoor portraits or ceremony.
Which airport should our guests fly into?
Aberdeen International Airport is the regional option, with fewer direct long-haul routes than Edinburgh or Glasgow, so some guests travelling from further afield may connect through one of those instead.
Is there anywhere dramatic nearby for portraits beyond the hotel grounds?
Dunnottar Castle, a clifftop ruin near Stonehaven about half an hour south, is a genuinely striking backdrop, though it’s a portrait location rather than a bookable ceremony venue.
Do we need a wedding planner for a venue like Ardoe House or Meldrum House?
I’d recommend one, particularly for Meldrum House given the distance from the city and the logistics of guest transport, accommodation and timing across the day.
