Ayr Wedding Photographer
with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Ayr sits on the Firth of Clyde on Scotland’s southwest coast, Robert Burns country, with a genuinely large-capacity racecourse venue in the town itself and a clifftop castle estate a short drive south. This page looks at Ayr specifically, separate from the Scotland country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country.
I photograph weddings across the town and its surrounds, a reception in a racecourse suite built for hundreds, a ceremony on a castle’s viewing platform above the sea, portraits along the Ayrshire coast. Below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Ayr
Ayr covers both ends of the scale well, from a 30-guest ceremony in a clifftop glasshouse to a 700-guest reception at the racecourse.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Ayr: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Ayr as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Wedding Venues in Ayr
A large-capacity racecourse suite in the town itself, a clifftop castle estate to the south, and Robert Burns’s birthplace for portraits.

Ayr Racecourse
A genuinely large-capacity venue in the town itself: the Ayrshire Suite takes up to 700 guests, and the smaller Princess Royal Suite up to 400. Outdoor options include a ceremony in the Paddock and drinks on the lawns.
Culzean Castle
Honestly, this one isn’t in Ayr, it’s near Maybole on the Ayrshire coast, around 20 minutes south, an 18th-century castle on a clifftop above the Isle of Arran, run by the National Trust for Scotland. The castle itself takes 50 for a ceremony and dinner, the Orangery 50, the Camellia House 30, and the grounds can host a marquee for up to 250.
Burns Cottage, Alloway
Not a wedding venue, but a genuinely significant stop for portraits: the birthplace of Robert Burns in 1759, now run by the National Trust for Scotland, just south of Ayr in Alloway.
Your Ayr Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, an Ayr wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

We schedule a free consultation call to understand your plans, your priorities, and see if our approach aligns.
If it feels right, we move forward – and on the day itself, you can be fully present while I take care of documenting everything.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Culzean Castle actually in Ayr?
No, honestly it’s near Maybole, around 20 minutes south of Ayr on the coast. I cover it here because it’s the closest castle-estate wedding venue to Ayr and a genuinely striking one, not because it sits in the town itself.
Can Ayr Racecourse really handle a wedding that large?
Yes, the Ayrshire Suite is built for up to 700 guests, genuinely one of the largest wedding capacities covered on this site, with a smaller Princess Royal Suite available for a more modest number.
What’s the best time of year for an Ayr wedding?
May through September is most reliable for weather, and if you’re planning anything outdoors at Culzean, worth checking the castle’s own event calendar, since it’s a working visitor attraction as well as a venue.
Which airport should our guests fly into?
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is a short drive from Ayr and handles budget and charter routes, while Glasgow Airport, about 40 minutes away, has the wider range of international connections.
Do we need a wedding planner for Ayr Racecourse or Culzean Castle?
I’d recommend one for Culzean given the National Trust booking process and the logistics of a working visitor site; the racecourse’s event team already runs weddings regularly and can guide much of it directly.
