Dubrovnik Wedding Photographer
with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Dubrovnik sits at Croatia’s southern tip, a walled Adriatic old town that stayed intact for centuries and now draws couples specifically for that history, a genuinely different setting from the rest of Dalmatia’s beach towns and islands. This page looks at Dubrovnik specifically, separate from the Croatia country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country.
I photograph weddings across the area, below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik works beautifully for an intimate elopement against real medieval stone, and its waterfront hotels tend to suit a smaller, more private ceremony over a very large reception inside the Old Town itself.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Dubrovnik: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Dubrovnik as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Wedding Venues at Dubrovnik
An oceanfront hotel against the Old Town’s ancient walls, plus a 15th-century Renaissance garden outside the city for portraits.

Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik
An oceanfront hotel right against the Old Town’s ancient stone walls, with terraces and walkways that lead straight down to the water. Published wedding coverage of the hotel describes small, intimate ceremonies held outdoors by the sea, with the hotel’s own hair and makeup team on hand; exact guest capacity isn’t published, so I’d confirm your numbers directly.
Trsteno Arboretum
Construction began in 1494, when Ivan Marinov of Dubrovnik’s Gučetić-Gozze family laid out a summer garden and had local sea captains bring back plant seeds from their voyages, making it one of the oldest Renaissance gardens in this part of Europe. It’s also a major filming location from seasons 3 and 4 of Game of Thrones. The Arboretum’s own site doesn’t confirm whether weddings can be held there, so I’d check availability and any permit requirements directly before building a ceremony around it.
The Old Town Walls and Stradun
Portrait-only. Dubrovnik’s 2km of medieval walls, best walked early morning before the crowds, and the Stradun, the limestone-paved main street running through the Old Town, give some of the most recognizable backdrops in the Adriatic.
Your Dubrovnik Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, a Dubrovnik wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this page different from your Croatia page?
The Croatia page on this site covers the country broadly. This page looks specifically at Dubrovnik, a walled Adriatic old town with its own castle-like hotels and a Renaissance garden outside the city, rather than the country’s other coastal cities.
What’s the best time of year for a Dubrovnik wedding?
Late May, June, and September give warm weather while avoiding the heaviest cruise-ship and day-tripper crowds that fill the Old Town’s streets through July and August. Dubrovnik’s popularity means the Old Town itself is rarely quiet in peak summer, worth planning portrait timing around.
Which airport should our guests fly into?
Dubrovnik Airport sits about 20 minutes from the city and has direct seasonal flights from most of Europe, plus year-round connections through hubs like Zagreb and Frankfurt, making it one of the easier Croatian coastal cities for international guests to reach directly.
Is Trsteno Arboretum actually bookable for a wedding?
The Arboretum’s own materials don’t confirm whether private wedding ceremonies are bookable there, so I’d check directly with the site before planning around it. It’s genuinely a 15th-century Renaissance garden and a season 3 and 4 Game of Thrones filming location, which makes it a strong portrait location even if the main celebration happens elsewhere.
Do we need a wedding planner in Dubrovnik?
I’d recommend one, especially for anything inside the Old Town walls. Permits, vendor access through the pedestrian-only streets, and timing around cruise-ship crowds all take local knowledge that a hotel-based planner or independent coordinator already has.
