Dundee Wedding Photographer
with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Dundee sits on the Firth of Tay, and its council-approved wedding venues are genuinely unusual, a 15th-century castle on the waterfront and a polar exploration ship among them. Angus, the countryside just inland, adds centuries of history on top of that. This page looks at Dundee specifically, separate from the Scotland country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country.
I photograph weddings across the city and its surrounds, a ceremony on a historic ship, a reception in a castle, portraits along the Tay waterfront. Below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Dundee
Dundee’s venues lean toward smaller, distinctive ceremonies rather than very large receptions, though Glamis Castle inland can accommodate a bigger day.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Dundee: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Dundee as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Wedding Venues in Dundee
A medieval castle and a polar exploration ship on Dundee’s own waterfront, plus Glamis Castle’s six centuries of history just inland.

Broughty Castle
A castle on the banks of the Tay at Broughty Ferry, first fortified in 1454 and completed around 1495. It’s now a museum run by Leisure & Culture Dundee and is listed among the city’s council-approved civil marriage venues, though no guest capacity is published, I’d confirm numbers directly before booking.
RRS Discovery
Built in Dundee in 1901 for Captain Scott’s first Antarctic expedition, now berthed in the city’s waterfront as a museum ship and listed as a council-approved civil marriage venue, genuinely one of the more unusual ceremony settings in Scotland. As with Broughty Castle, capacity isn’t published, so I’d confirm directly.
Glamis Castle
Honestly, this one isn’t in Dundee, it’s in Angus, about 12 miles out, with Dundee the nearest airport and train station for your guests. Glamis has hosted weddings since 1376, when Sir John Lyon brought his royal bride here, and its Italian Garden, designed by the Queen Mother’s own mother, takes a ceremony of up to 150. The 17th-century Drawing Room and Victorian Dining Room each take up to 80.
Your Dundee Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, a Dundee wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Glamis Castle actually in Dundee?
No, honestly it’s in Angus, about 12 miles from the city. Dundee is still the nearest airport and train station for your guests, which is why it’s covered on this page rather than a separate one.
Can we really get married on a historic ship?
Yes. The RRS Discovery, Captain Scott’s Antarctic exploration ship, and HMS Unicorn are both listed among Dundee’s council-approved civil marriage venues. Published capacity figures are limited for both, so I’d confirm numbers directly with the venue before booking.
What’s the best time of year for a Dundee wedding?
May through September gives the most reliable weather on this stretch of the Tay, though as with most of Scotland, an indoor backup plan is worth having regardless of month.
Which airport should our guests fly into?
Dundee’s own airport lost its last scheduled flight, Loganair to London Heathrow, on 23 October 2026, so for now Edinburgh or Aberdeen are the practical options for guests flying in, both under two hours away by road.
Do we need a wedding planner for a venue like Broughty Castle or Glamis?
I’d recommend one, particularly for Glamis given the distance from Dundee and the castle’s own scheduling around other events, and for the ship venues given the logistics of catering and access.
