Castello Odescalchi, Lake Bracciano
About an hour from Rome, Castello Odescalchi is a feudal fortress castle on the shore of Lake Bracciano, the same castle where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes married. A consecrated church sits beneath the castle, reached through a secret tunnel, and a private garden hosts blessings with the lake as the backdrop. The property holds anywhere from 100 to over 1,000 guests across its indoor and outdoor spaces, with dinners in the frescoed Cesar Hall and waitstaff running until half past midnight. There’s no on-site lodging, so guests stay in Rome, and the castle recommends booking a year in advance.
La Posta Vecchia Hotel, Ladispoli
Built around the personal residence and art collection of J. Paul Getty, La Posta Vecchia is a Renaissance-style palazzo on the Tyrrhenian coast, twenty minutes from Fiumicino airport. The 21-room hotel holds up to 200 guests, or a more intimate 130 for a smaller setup, with gardens, a beach terrace and a library all working as ceremony or reception space. It runs seasonally, April through September, and a full property exclusive starts around EUR30,000 in low season.
Villa Aldobrandini, Frascati
Built in the late 1500s for a cardinal, Villa Aldobrandini sits on Mount Tuscolo above Frascati, in the Castelli Romani hills, with architecture credited to Giacomo della Porta and Carlo Maderno. Its baroque nymphaeum, a 2,500 square meter garden of fountains and terraces, is one of the great set pieces of the Roman countryside. The villa holds up to 300 guests indoors, or as many as 2,000 outdoors under tensile structures for weather cover, and operates year-round.
Castello di Santa Severa, Santa Marinella
A medieval fortress standing directly on the beach, thirty minutes from Fiumicino, Castello di Santa Severa gives you two sea-view halls under vaulted, wood-beamed ceilings (Sala Nostromo and the smaller Sala Pyrgi), plus the Saracen Tower, the castle’s oldest section, reached by a walkway twenty meters up. Two consecrated churches sit on the grounds, including a tiny fifth-century chapel with a baptismal font carved from a Roman-era millstone. Exact guest capacity isn’t published, so confirm numbers directly, but the roughly 7,750 square meters of outdoor plazas give real room to work with.
Castello della Castelluccia, Roman hills
Twenty minutes from central Rome off the Via Cassia, Castello della Castelluccia has belonged to the noble Muti family since the 1300s and has hosted popes and queens in that time. A private 16th century chapel handles the ceremony for up to 80 guests, and the 17th century ballroom seats up to 180 for dinner. The castle sleeps 50 guests on-site, which makes it one of the few venues on this page where the entire wedding, ceremony through the morning after, can happen without anyone leaving the property.

Do we need a wedding planner in Lazio?
