Inhabited since the 1200s by the Zanardi Landi family, Castello di Rivalta is one of the few castles left in Europe still standing at the center of its own intact hamlet, fifty-four rooms of period furnishings surrounded by 17th-century gardens. The adjacent San Martino Church handles religious ceremonies, and the family can arrange carriage or vintage car arrivals for a couple who wants the full effect.
Torre Fornello, Ziano Piacentino
An ancient noble residence dating back to 1028, built around a working vineyard and a small Roman church on the property. The wine cellar doubles as one of the more atmospheric photography locations on this page, and the beam-ceilinged dining room keeps the working-estate feel rather than a formal ballroom’s polish.
Castello di Sarmato, Sarmato
A castle that has kept most of its original family furnishings intact, frescoes and even a grand piano still in place rather than staged for events, which gives it a lived-in quality that newer venues cannot fake. Overnight accommodations on site, room for up to five couples, make it a natural base for a multi-day wedding weekend.
Santa Giustina, Pianello Val Tidone
A historic farm dating to the year 1000, with its own wine production and a private game reserve on the grounds.
