This is Italian-speaking Trentino, not German-speaking South Tyrol, and its wedding landscape centers on Lake Garda’s northern shore around Arco and Riva del Garda rather than alpine rifugi. Arco’s own hilltop fortress still hosts legal civil ceremonies through the town hall, its former casino building has an Austro-Hungarian ballroom used by the nobility who once wintered here, and Trento’s own castle sits right in the city center with frescoed halls of its own. East of the city, the Valsugana valley adds a Habsburg spa hotel most couples never hear about until a planner mentions it.

Trento works just as beautifully for intimate elopements as it does for larger and multi-day celebrations.

The Best Wedding Venues in Trento
Five venues across Trento and Lake Garda’s northern shore, from a civil ceremony at Castello di Arco to Castello del Buonconsiglio in the city center.
Castello di Arco, Arco
A medieval fortress on a limestone outcrop above the town of Arco, once a favorite of the Austrian archdukes who wintered here for its mild lake climate. Arco’s town hall authorizes legal civil ceremonies on the Lizza, the fortress’s own open lawn, with the Sarca valley and Lake Garda’s northern tip spread out below. It is booked directly through the comune rather than a private venue, so the calendar and process follow the municipality’s own rules.
Salone Arciduca Alberto, Casino di Arco
In the same town, a different building entirely: the old Kursaal, or Casino di Arco, where Austro-Hungarian nobility gathered through the late 1800s. Its Salone Arciduca Alberto is an imperial-style ballroom that pairs naturally with a ceremony up at the castle, giving a couple an outdoor legal ceremony and an indoor period reception a few minutes apart in the same town.
Lido Palace, Riva del Garda
A five-star hotel directly on Riva del Garda’s lakefront promenade, part of the Leading Hotels of the World collection, with design suites, the Cento11 spa, and a dedicated wedding team who handle the reception end of things for a couple who wants the whole weekend, ceremony, party and guest rooms, run by one property on the water.
Castello del Buonconsiglio, Trento
Trento’s own castle sits in the city center, built between 1239 and 1255 and expanded through the Renaissance, with four halls available for private hire, the largest, Sala Marangonerie, holding up to 130 guests, and the frescoed Loggia del Romanino among the most striking rooms in the building. An Italian garden and central location make it the option for a couple who wants the ceremony and reception without leaving the city itself.
Grand Hotel Imperial, Levico Terme
Around thirty minutes east of Trento in the Valsugana valley, this 19th century Habsburg villa was built for an Austrian archduke and now runs as a spa hotel set inside its own 15-hectare botanical park of centuries-old trees. It is the quieter, less lake-facing alternative on this page, for a couple drawn more to Habsburg-era architecture and a private park than to Lake Garda’s shoreline.
