Lucerne Wedding Photographer
with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Lucerne sits where the Reuss river leaves Lake Lucerne, a city still built around its medieval wooden bridges and a skyline of lake and Alps rather than any one landmark. This page looks at Lucerne specifically, separate from the Switzerland country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country.
I photograph weddings in and around the city, a reception on a hilltop above the rooftops, a ceremony at a lakefront hotel with a century of Belle Époque history, portraits along the covered bridges and the lake promenade. Below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Lucerne
Lucerne works for both an intimate ceremony and a larger celebration, and its hilltop and lakefront venues can scale from a single historic hall to a full lakeside reception.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Lucerne: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Lucerne as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Wedding Venues at Lucerne
A hilltop castle hotel, a Belle Époque lake palace, and Chapel Bridge for portraits.

Hotel Château Gütsch
A hilltop castle hotel reached by its own private funicular, with panoramic views over the city and the lake. Its Knights’ Hall seats up to 80 in a historic setting, the hotel restaurant takes up to 120 with a large terrace, and the castle courtyard and bar are also available for celebrations.
Mandarin Oriental Palace Lucerne
A Belle Époque landmark directly on the lake since 1906, with 136 rooms and suites. It’s listed as a wedding venue by the city’s own tourism board, but I haven’t found the hotel’s own wedding page confirming capacity directly, so I’d check with them before counting on it.
Schlössli Utenberg
A castle set in its own park above the city, with ceremonies held under a romantic arbour and dinners in a newly built orangery; no guest capacity is published.
Chapel Bridge and the Lake Lucerne Promenade
Not bookable venues. The 14th-century Kapellbrücke, Europe’s oldest covered wooden bridge, and the lake promenade with Mount Pilatus behind it are where I’d plan portraits.
Your Lucerne Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, a Lucerne wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this page different from your Switzerland page?
The Switzerland page on this site covers the country broadly. This page looks specifically at Lucerne, a lake and mountain city built around Europe’s oldest covered wooden bridge.
What’s the best time of year for a Lucerne wedding?
Late May through June and September give the most reliable weather and the clearest views of Mount Pilatus across the lake, while avoiding the heaviest summer crowds.
Which airport should our guests fly into?
Zurich Airport is the nearest with international flights, about an hour by direct train into Lucerne’s own station right on the lake; Lucerne has no airport of its own.
Is a Swiss wedding ceremony actually legally binding, or just symbolic?
Only a civil ceremony booked through the City of Lucerne’s civil registry is legally binding, any religious or symbolic ceremony has to follow it rather than replace it. If neither of you lives in Switzerland, the paperwork goes through a Swiss representation abroad first and the whole process typically takes two to six months, so I’d build that timeline in early if a legal Swiss wedding is the plan.
Do we need a wedding planner in Lucerne?
For a venue like Hotel Château Gütsch, the venue’s own events team handles much of the coordination. For the civil-ceremony paperwork specifically, I’d still recommend a local planner familiar with Swiss registry requirements.
