A baroque guild house in Zurich, a legendary grand hotel in St Moritz, and lakes and Alps running the length of the country between them

Switzerland splits into real wedding destinations worth knowing individually rather than treating the whole country as one block, from lakefront cities like Geneva, Zurich, Lausanne and Montreux, to the Italian-speaking south around Lugano, to Alpine resorts like Zermatt and St Moritz. Each city below has its own dedicated guide, with real venues, honest capacity notes, and the logistics couples ask me most before booking there.

I photograph weddings across the country, a reception inside a centuries-old guild hall, a ceremony in a lakefront hotel ballroom, portraits along an Alpine lake. Below is where to start, city by city, plus the questions couples ask me most before planning a wedding in Switzerland.

From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Switzerland

Switzerland works just as beautifully for intimate elopements as it does for larger and multi-day celebrations.

I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding

No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Switzerland: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage

Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Switzerland as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.

Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.

For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.

This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.

Explore Weddings by City

All twelve destinations across Switzerland now have their own dedicated page: real venues, honest capacity notes, and the logistics couples ask about most before booking there.

  • Geneva: a grand lakefront hotel ballroom, a registry-approved chateau on Lake Geneva, and the city’s own civil-ceremony venue for the paperwork.
  • Zurich: a 1757 baroque guild house in the Old Town and a lakeview hotel with official wedding-venue status.
  • Lucerne: a hilltop castle hotel reached by its own funicular and a Belle Époque palace right on the lake.
  • Bern: a 300-year-old vaulted cellar in the UNESCO Old Town and a countryside castle with over 800 years of history.
  • Interlaken: a Belle Époque grand hotel between two lakes and a historic hall beside the Giessbach Falls.
  • Lausanne: a Belle Époque palace on Lake Geneva and a medieval castle in the Ouchy district.
  • Zermatt: a 19th-century mountaineers’ church and a resort reached only by mountain railway, both under the Matterhorn.
  • Basel: a moated 13th-century castle just outside the city and one of Europe’s oldest hotels, right on the Rhine.
  • Lugano: a hilltop villa above the lake and Switzerland’s most beautiful village just across the water.
  • Montreux: a Belle Époque grand hotel on Lake Geneva and the medieval Château de Chillon just offshore.
  • St Moritz: a legendary 1896 grand hotel in the Alps and the frescoed village church nearby.
  • Lake Constance: a medieval moated castle and a baroque country palace in the Thurgau countryside, on the Swiss shore of a lake shared with Germany and Austria.

Your Switzerland Wedding Photographer

I’m Dejan, a Switzerland wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.

I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Swiss city is the right fit for our wedding?

It depends on the setting you want. Geneva and Zurich suit a grand hotel ballroom or a historic Old Town guild house, Lausanne and Montreux lean into Lake Geneva’s Belle Époque hotels, Lugano is the pick for Italian-speaking Switzerland and its hillside villas, and Zermatt or St Moritz are the Alpine choices if mountains matter more than a lake. Each city’s own page says so honestly rather than overselling capacity it doesn’t have.

What’s the best time of year for a wedding in Switzerland?

Late May through June and September give the most reliable weather across the country while avoiding the heaviest summer crowds and prices on the lakes.

Which airport should our guests fly into?

Geneva, Zurich and Basel’s EuroAirport each have their own major international airport with direct long-haul and European routes. For Lugano or St Moritz, guests more realistically fly into Zurich or Milan and finish the trip by train, each city’s own page has the specific detail.

Is a Swiss wedding ceremony actually legally binding, or just symbolic?

Only a civil ceremony at a Swiss civil registry office (Zivilstandsamt) is legally binding, any religious or symbolic ceremony has to follow it rather than replace it. If neither of you lives in Switzerland, the paperwork goes through a Swiss representation abroad first, documents need apostille and certified translation, and the whole process typically takes two to six months, so I’d build that timeline in early if a legal Swiss wedding is the plan.

Can you photograph weddings across more than one Swiss destination on the same trip?

Yes, this comes up fairly often, a Geneva ceremony with a few days built in around the lake, or a Zurich wedding paired with time elsewhere in the country. I’m happy to build a multi-day or multi-city coverage plan around however your trip is shaped.
