Bern Wedding Photographer
with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Bern sits inside a tight loop of the Aare river, Switzerland’s capital with a UNESCO-listed medieval Old Town of sandstone arcades and the Zytglogge clock tower at its center. This page looks at Bern specifically, separate from the Switzerland country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country.
I photograph weddings in and around the city, a reception inside a baroque vaulted cellar in the Old Town, a ceremony at a centuries-old castle just outside the city, portraits along the arcades and the river loop. Below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Bern
Bern works for both an intimate ceremony and a larger celebration, and its Old Town cellar and countryside castle venues can scale from a small gathering to several hundred guests.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Bern: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Bern as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Wedding Venues at Bern
A baroque Old Town cellar, a countryside castle, and the Aare river loop for portraits.

Kornhauskeller
The 300-year-old vaulted cellar of Bern’s former granary, right in the UNESCO Old Town at Kornhausplatz. It’s a single open space, listed at up to 350 for round banquet tables or 400 for a standing reception (one source puts the ceiling closer to 700, so I’d confirm the exact figure directly); weddings are listed among the event types it hosts rather than given their own dedicated page.
Schloss Hünigen
A castle near Konolfingen with over 800 years of history, about 25 minutes outside Bern. Ceremonies take place in the castle park or an open forest clearing, with receptions in either the historic Von May Hall or the more modern Haller Hall; no guest capacity is published.
Gerzensee Castle
A castle near a private lake about 20 minutes from Bern, with a history back to 1700 and the option of staying overnight; no guest capacity is published.
Zytglogge and the Aare River Loop
Not bookable venues. Bern’s 13th-century astronomical clock tower and the sandstone arcades and river loop around the Old Town are where I’d plan portraits.
Your Bern Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, a Bern wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this page different from your Switzerland page?
The Switzerland page on this site covers the country broadly. This page looks specifically at Bern, the Swiss capital with a UNESCO-listed Old Town inside a loop of the Aare river.
What’s the best time of year for a Bern wedding?
Late May through June and September give the most reliable weather while avoiding the heaviest summer crowds.
Which airport should our guests fly into?
Bern has its own small airport with limited routes, so most guests fly into Zurich or Geneva instead, both under an hour away by direct train.
Is a Swiss wedding ceremony actually legally binding, or just symbolic?
Only a civil ceremony booked through the City of Bern’s civil registry is legally binding, any religious or symbolic ceremony has to follow it rather than replace it. If neither of you lives in Switzerland, the paperwork goes through a Swiss representation abroad first and the whole process typically takes two to six months, so I’d build that timeline in early if a legal Swiss wedding is the plan.
Do we need a wedding planner in Bern?
For a venue like Schloss Hünigen, the venue’s own events team handles much of the coordination. For the civil-ceremony paperwork specifically, I’d still recommend a local planner familiar with Swiss registry requirements.
