Montreux Wedding Photographer
with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Montreux sits on the eastern curve of Lake Geneva, known equally for its Belle Époque hotels and for the jazz festival that fills the town every July, with vineyard-covered hills climbing straight up behind the promenade. This page looks at Montreux specifically, separate from the Switzerland country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country.
I photograph weddings in and around the town, a reception in a grand hotel’s lakeside gardens, portraits along the promenade and out toward the medieval castle that sits just offshore. Below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Montreux
Montreux works for both an intimate ceremony and a larger celebration, and a grand hotel like the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace can scale from a small lakeside terrace to a ballroom for several hundred guests.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Montreux: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Montreux as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Wedding Venues at Montreux
A Belle Époque grand hotel on the lake, a medieval castle just offshore, and the promenade where Queen once recorded seven albums.

Fairmont Le Montreux Palace
A Belle Époque grand hotel right on Lake Geneva, with a dedicated wedding page, an in-house florist, and a wedding manager assigned to each couple. The Gardens of the Palace overlook the lake and suit a ceremony or cocktail reception; for a seated dinner, the Terrasse du Petit Palais (a lakeside terrace, banqueting up to 300) or the Belle Époque Salle des Congrès (up to 340 for a banquet) are the named spaces, while the largest room, Leman A-B, is listed at up to 690 for a banquet (the hotel’s own marketing elsewhere claims as many as 1,200, so I’d confirm the real working number for your guest count directly).
Château de Chillon
A genuinely medieval castle rising straight out of Lake Geneva, one of Switzerland’s most visited monuments and instantly recognizable in photos. The castle’s own private-events materials list the Aula Magna (up to 232) and the Castellan’s Dining Hall (130 seated, 160 for a reception) for cocktails, galas, and dinners after hours, though the page covers private events generally rather than weddings by name, so I’d confirm directly whether a wedding specifically can be arranged there.
The Promenade, the Lavaux Vineyards, and the Freddie Mercury Statue
Not bookable venues. The lakeside promenade through town, the UNESCO-listed Lavaux vineyard terraces climbing the hills just outside Montreux, and the bronze statue of Freddie Mercury at Place du Marché (unveiled 1996, marking the years Queen spent recording albums here) are all strong spots for portraits.
Your Montreux Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, a Montreux wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this page different from your Switzerland page?
The Switzerland page on this site covers the country broadly. This page looks specifically at Montreux, a lakeside town on Lake Geneva best known for its Belle Époque hotels and its jazz festival.
What’s the best time of year for a Montreux wedding?
Late May through June and September give the most reliable weather. I’d avoid the two weeks of the Montreux Jazz Festival in early July unless that’s part of the appeal, since the town and its hotels get genuinely booked out.
Which airport should our guests fly into?
Geneva Airport is the practical choice, about an hour away with a direct train that runs right to the Montreux lakefront, genuinely one of the easier Swiss connections for guests.
Is a Swiss wedding ceremony actually legally binding, or just symbolic?
Only a civil ceremony booked through Montreux’s civil registry (Office de l’état civil) is legally binding, any religious or symbolic ceremony has to follow it rather than replace it. If neither of you lives in Switzerland, the paperwork goes through a Swiss representation abroad first and the whole process typically takes two to six months, so I’d build that timeline in early if a legal Swiss wedding is the plan.
Do we need a wedding planner in Montreux?
For a venue like the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, the hotel assigns its own wedding manager and in-house florist to each couple. For a venue like Château de Chillon, or for the civil-ceremony paperwork specifically, I’d still recommend a local planner familiar with Swiss registry requirements.
