Odense Wedding Photographer
with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Odense sits on the island of Funen, Denmark’s third-largest city and the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, surrounded by a countryside of moated castles and manor houses that have hosted weddings for centuries. This page looks at Odense and Funen specifically, separate from the Denmark country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country.
I photograph weddings across the island, a reception inside a moated Renaissance castle, a ceremony on a manor-house lawn, portraits through the half-timbered old town. Below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Odense
Odense works just as beautifully for intimate elopements as it does for larger and multi-day celebrations.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Odense: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Odense as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Best Wedding Venues in Odense
Three castles and manor houses across Funen island, plus the old town itself for portraits.

Egeskov Slot, Kværndrup
A Renaissance moated castle built in 1554, widely described as Europe’s best-preserved castle of its kind, with formal gardens on the grounds. It has hosted royal weddings in the past; I’d confirm directly whether it takes outside wedding bookings and at what scale, since its public-facing site is built mainly around museum visits.
Valdemars Slot, Tåsinge
A 17th-century palace built 1639-44, on the island of Tåsinge just across the water from Svendborg in south Funen, reachable by bridge or the veteran ferry M/S Helge. It runs an events program directly; I’d confirm wedding-specific availability and capacity when you inquire.
Lykkesholm Slot, Ørbæk
A manor house near Nyborg with roots back to 1329, with 28 rooms on site and a history of past owners hosting weddings here, a tradition the property invites new couples to continue.
Odense Old Town and the H.C. Andersen Quarter
Not a bookable venue, the cobbled, half-timbered streets around the writer’s birthplace. It isn’t a ceremony space, but it’s where I’d plan a portrait session around an Odense wedding.
Your Odense Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, an Odense wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this page different from your Denmark page?
The Denmark page on this site covers the country broadly. This page looks specifically at Odense and the island of Funen around it, with its moated Renaissance castle and historic manor houses.
What’s the best time of year for an Odense wedding?
May through September gives the longest daylight and the most reliable weather, with June through August the warmest for an outdoor garden ceremony.
Which airport should our guests fly into?
Odense’s own airport no longer runs regular passenger flights, so most guests fly into Copenhagen and take the direct train, about ninety minutes to two hours, or drive across the Great Belt Bridge. Billund Airport is also roughly an hour away and worth checking for a relevant route.
Can we book Egeskov Slot or Valdemars Slot directly for a wedding?
Both are run primarily as museum and events properties, so I’d confirm wedding-specific availability, scale and pricing directly with each castle rather than assuming a standard wedding package, their public sites are built mainly around visitor tours.
Do we need a wedding planner in Odense?
For a historic castle like Egeskov or Valdemars Slot, yes, a local planner who already knows the property saves real coordination time, especially for a couple planning from abroad.
