Cannes is best known for the film festival, but for most of the year it’s a quieter, more intimate stretch of the Riviera than its red-carpet reputation suggests, all Art Deco grand hotels, hillside villas, and a bay dotted with the Lérins Islands. This page looks at Cannes specifically, separate from the France country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country, and separate from the Nice page too, since the two cities sit close together but have quite different venues on offer.

I photograph weddings in and around the city, a reception in a Belle Époque ballroom on La Croisette, a ceremony on the grounds of a hilltop château above the bay, portraits along the Croisette itself and on the steps of the old town. Below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.

From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Cannes

Cannes works just as beautifully for intimate elopements as it does for larger and multi-day celebrations, with venues scaling from a quiet terrace for two to a 450-guest château grounds reception.

I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding

No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Cannes: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage

Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Cannes as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.

Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.

For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.

This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.

The Best Wedding Venues in Cannes

A neo-medieval seaside château, an Art Deco grand hotel on La Croisette, a hilltop estate above the bay, a Riviera beach club, and the Croisette itself for portraits.

Château de la Napoule, Mandelieu-la-Napoule
A neo-medieval seaside fortress on the bay of Cannes, first settled by the Romans, rebuilt as a fortress by the Villeneuve family, then restored between 1918 and 1938 by American artists Henry and Marie Clews, who turned it into an artists’ retreat. The La Napoule Art Foundation, which Marie Clews founded, now runs it and confirms it hosts weddings directly. Up to 450 guests seated, with outdoor ceremony space in the Grand Walkway (up to 350) or the Lovers’ Garden (up to 200), from around €11,500 for peak-season evening hire.

Hôtel Martinez
An Art Deco grand hotel on the Boulevard de la Croisette, open since 1929, with one of the largest hotel event spaces on the boulevard. Named rooms include Le Festival, an 891 m² ballroom for up to 1,000 guests, and the smaller Citrus 1 and Citrus 2 rooms, for up to 300 and 180 respectively.

Château de la Croix des Gardes
A Florentine-style château built in 1919 by Swiss industrialist Paul Girod, set on roughly 10 hectares above the bay. Listings describe the grounds hosting up to 2,000 guests outdoors and the indoor reception hall up to 200, though sources disagree on the exact room count inside, and I haven’t found the château’s own site confirming current wedding bookings, worth checking directly before counting on it.

Palm Beach Cannes
A beach club at the tip of the Croisette, open since 1928, built around the Alain Delon Ballroom, a 1,000 m² space opening onto a sea-view terrace, with capacity up to 1,500 guests and packages starting around €35,000 for 100 guests. The wedding information I’ve found comes from the venue’s own marketing material on third-party planning sites, so I’d confirm current details directly.

La Croisette and Le Suquet
Not bookable venues. La Croisette is Cannes’s famous seafront promenade, while Le Suquet, the hilltop old town above the harbor, gives a view over the bay and the Lérins Islands, both reliable spots for portraits.

Your Cannes Wedding Photographer

I’m Dejan, a Cannes wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.

I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this page different from your France and Nice pages?

The France page covers the country broadly, and the Nice page looks at Nice and the Riviera around it. This page is specifically about Cannes, from the Art Deco hotels on La Croisette to the hilltop châteaux above the bay, venues that don’t overlap with either of those other pages.

What’s the best time of year for a Cannes wedding?

May through June and September through early October give the most reliable weather while avoiding the crowds and prices of July and August, and also avoiding the film festival in May, which fills the city’s hotels well in advance.

Which airport should our guests fly into?

Cannes doesn’t have its own major airport. The nearest is Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, about 30 to 40 minutes away by car, the same airport that serves several other Riviera destinations on this site.

Do we need to get legally married in France, or can we do that at home?

Most couples without French residency marry legally at home first and hold a symbolic or religious ceremony in Cannes instead. A legal civil ceremony at a French mairie requires at least one party to have lived in that town for a month, plus a stack of paperwork, a certificat de coutume, a certificat de célibat, an apostilled birth certificate, and banns posted at least ten days ahead, which is a heavy lift for most couples planning a destination wedding.

Can Château de la Croix des Gardes or Palm Beach Cannes actually confirm hosting a wedding?

Palm Beach Cannes advertises wedding packages directly on its own marketing pages, so that one’s fairly well documented, though I’d still confirm current pricing and availability myself. Château de la Croix des Gardes is a different story: planning sites describe it as a wedding venue, but I haven’t found the château’s own site confirming current bookings, and different listings even disagree on how many rooms it has. I’d verify that one carefully before building plans around it.
