France splits into real wedding destinations worth knowing individually rather than treating the whole country as one block, from the Riviera glamour of Nice and Cannes, to the museums and grand palace hotels of Paris, to the lavender fields and stone bastides of Provence. Each destination below has its own dedicated guide, with real venues, honest capacity notes, and the logistics couples ask me most before booking there.

I photograph weddings across the country, a reception inside a seaside château, a ceremony on a hotel terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, portraits among lavender rows or along a grand boulevard. Below is where to start, destination by destination, plus the questions couples ask me most before planning a wedding in France.

From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in France

France works just as beautifully for intimate elopements as it does for larger and multi-day celebrations.

I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding

No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in France: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage

Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in France as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.

Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.

For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.

This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.

Explore Weddings by Destination

Six destinations across France now have a fully rebuilt page with real venues and honest capacity notes. Lyon and Toulouse have older pages that are next in line for the same treatment.

  • Nice: a Belle Époque palace on Cap-Ferrat, a landmark hotel on the Promenade des Anglais, and its own major international airport.
  • Paris: a 17th-century château outside the city, a palace hotel built as a prince’s private residence, and the Eiffel Tower itself for portraits.
  • Cannes: an Art Deco grand hotel on La Croisette and a neo-medieval seaside château on the bay.
  • Provence: a vineyard bastide near Aix-en-Provence with real wedding history, and the lavender fields of Valensole for portraits.
  • Strasbourg: a 12th-century Monument Historique château and a 16th-century wine-brotherhood castle on the Alsace wine route.
  • Cassis: a 5th-century watchtower château above the harbor and a private estate at the edge of the Calanques.
  • Lyon: France’s second city, on the banks of the Rhône and Saône. This page is an older one on this site and is next in line for a full rebuild with real venues.
  • Toulouse: the “Pink City” of southwest France. This page is also an older one on this site and is next in line for a full rebuild with real venues.

Your France Wedding Photographer

I’m Dejan, a France wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.

I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which part of France is the right fit for our wedding?

It depends on the setting you want. Nice and Cannes suit Riviera glamour, Belle Époque and Art Deco grand hotels right on the water. Paris suits a palace hotel or a grand château just outside the city if you want the capital’s landmarks in your photos. Provence suits a vineyard bastide or lavender fields if you want a quieter, rural setting. Each destination’s own page says so honestly rather than overselling capacity it doesn’t have.

What’s the best time of year for a wedding in France?

Late May through June and September through early October give the most reliable weather across most of the country while avoiding the heaviest summer crowds and prices. Provence’s lavender fields are the exception, they only bloom for a few weeks in late June and July, so that’s worth planning around if those photos matter to you.

Which airport should our guests fly into?

It depends on the destination. Paris has two major international airports, Nice has its own, Cannes relies on Nice’s airport about 30 minutes away, and Provence depends on which part, Marseille for Aix-en-Provence and the Luberon. Each destination’s own page has the specific detail.

Do we need to get legally married in France, or can we do that at home?

Most couples without French residency marry legally at home first and hold a symbolic or religious ceremony in France instead. A legal civil ceremony at a French mairie requires at least one party to have lived in that town for a month, plus a stack of paperwork, a certificat de coutume, a certificat de célibat, an apostilled birth certificate, and banns posted at least ten days ahead, which is a heavy lift for most couples planning a destination wedding.

Can you photograph weddings across more than one French destination on the same trip?

Yes, this comes up fairly often, a Paris ceremony with a few days built in around the Riviera, or a Provence wedding paired with time in Nice or Cannes. I’m happy to build a multi-day or multi-destination coverage plan around however your trip is shaped.
