Copenhagen is Denmark’s capital and its most-photographed city, with a wedding scene that ranges from a ceremony inside the amusement park at Tivoli Gardens to castle estates a short drive into North Zealand. This page looks at Copenhagen specifically, separate from the Denmark country page elsewhere on this site, which spreads out across the whole country.

I photograph weddings across the city and its surroundings, a reception under murals at a hotel inside Tivoli, a banquet hall in a Dutch Renaissance castle, portraits along the harbor at Nyhavn. Below are the real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.

From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Copenhagen

Copenhagen works just as beautifully for intimate elopements as it does for larger and multi-day celebrations.

I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding

No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Copenhagen: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage

Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Copenhagen as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.

Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.

For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.

This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.

The Best Wedding Venues in Copenhagen

Three venues in and around Copenhagen, from a hotel inside Tivoli Gardens to castle estates in North Zealand.

Wedding venue near Copenhagen

Nimb Hotel, Copenhagen
A hotel built into Tivoli Gardens itself, with ceremonies held in the Princess Pavilion and photos by the lake. Receptions can move through the Nimb Bar, beneath murals by artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen, or out onto the Nimb Terrasse for a garden wedding. Capacity is deliberately tiered: family weddings in the rooftop Balanchine Lounge run 30 to 60 guests, garden weddings in Tivoli itself 60 to 140.

Kokkedal Slot, Hørsholm
A Dutch Renaissance-style castle hotel built in 1746 in North Zealand, roughly half an hour north of the city, with a golf course and spa on the grounds. Its Banquet Hall is listed for up to 150 guests, though the hotel’s own description elsewhere puts formal dinner seating at 90, worth confirming directly when you inquire.

Bernstorff Slot, Gentofte
An 18th-century palace about nine kilometers from central Copenhagen, with several historic rooms sized for different scales: the White Hall seats 20 to 50, the larger Cavalier Hall over 100. Useful for a couple who wants a palace setting without leaving greater Copenhagen.

Nyhavn and Tivoli Gardens
Not a bookable venue, the colorful harbor front and the gardens themselves are where I’d plan a portrait session around a Copenhagen wedding.

Your Copenhagen Wedding Photographer

I’m Dejan, a Copenhagen wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.

I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this page different from your Denmark page?

The Denmark page on this site covers the country broadly. This page looks specifically at Copenhagen and nearby North Zealand, including a castle-hotel scene most visitors never see on a short city trip.

What’s the best time of year for a Copenhagen wedding?

May through September gives the longest daylight and the mildest weather, with June through August best for an outdoor garden ceremony at Tivoli or in a castle park.

Which airport should our guests fly into?

Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) is the obvious choice, well connected internationally and about 20 minutes by metro from the city center. It also puts guests within easy reach of both North Zealand castles on this page.

Can we book the whole of Tivoli Gardens for our wedding?

No, Tivoli stays open to the public during a wedding at Nimb. Ceremonies and receptions use dedicated hotel spaces inside the gardens rather than the park as a whole, which is part of what keeps the atmosphere lively rather than sealed off.

Do we need a wedding planner in Copenhagen?

For a castle venue like Kokkedal or Bernstorff, yes. Both are historic properties with their own booking processes, and a planner who already knows them saves real coordination time, especially for a couple planning from abroad.
