Denmark Wedding Photographer with a Documentary and Editorial Style

Denmark spreads a genuinely small, walkable country across a surprising range of settings for a wedding, a 19th-century hotel built into Tivoli Gardens in the capital, countryside manors and moated castles out on Zealand and Jutland, and island hotels on Bornholm looking straight out over the Baltic. Odense on the island of Funen and Esbjerg on the Jutland coast have each earned their own dedicated page, which this page links to below.
I photograph weddings across the country, a reception inside a converted castle, a ceremony on a lakeside terrace, portraits along a Baltic clifftop. Below are real venues worth knowing, plus the questions couples ask me most before booking a wedding here.
From Intimate Elopements to Big Weddings in Denmark
Denmark works just as beautifully for an intimate elopement as it does for a larger celebration.
I photograph:
– quiet, intentional elopements with just the two of you
– small weddings with close family and friends
– full wedding days with a larger guest count
– multi-day wedding celebrations, including welcome dinners and relaxed moments before or after the wedding
No matter the size or length of the celebration, my focus is always the same: real moments, strong atmosphere, and portraits that feel natural rather than posed. The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t.

Wedding Videographer in Denmark: Photo and Hybrid Video Coverage
Alongside photography, I also offer wedding video coverage in Denmark as part of a hybrid photo and video approach.
Video is treated as an extension of the photography, captured with the same sensitivity to light, timing, and atmosphere. The focus stays on real moments, movement, and sound, without staged scenes or intrusive production.
For weddings that benefit from an additional perspective, a dedicated videographer can also be included, always working in the same calm, unobtrusive way and fully aligned with how I photograph the day.
This approach works especially well for destination weddings, where intimacy, setting, and emotion matter more than spectacle.
The Best Wedding Venues in Denmark
Four venues spread across the country, from a hotel inside Copenhagen’s Tivoli Gardens to a seaside hotel on the island of Bornholm.

Nimb Hotel, Copenhagen
A 1909 Moorish-style building inside Tivoli Gardens, with room-by-room wedding capacity running from a 20-guest Cupola up to 350 in the Axelborg room, and the H.C. Andersen Castle room, with its soaring ceiling overlooking the gardens, a favorite for the ceremony itself.
Voergaard Slot, Dronninglund, North Jutland
A moated Renaissance castle built between 1520 and 1588, holding a genuinely significant art collection with works attributed to Goya and Rubens. It’s set up for private events, and I’d confirm wedding availability and capacity directly with the castle before building a day around it, since it isn’t positioned as a dedicated wedding venue the way the others on this page are.
Herthadalen, Lejre, Zealand
A countryside restaurant and event venue inside Skjoldungernes Land National Park, by the small lake Knapsø, with a conservatory, a large terrace and an event tent option for a bigger wedding. Confirmed as a working wedding venue, fully booked some summers, though it doesn’t publish a fixed guest cap, worth asking directly for your size of day.
Strandhotellet Sandvig, Bornholm
A seaside hotel from 1895 on the island of Bornholm, right by the cliffs, renovated by its current owners who have hosted weddings with guests flying in from around the world. General event capacity runs from about 8 up to 100.
Explore Weddings by City
Five cities across Denmark have their own dedicated page, each with real venues and honest capacity notes.
- Copenhagen, the capital: a ceremony inside Tivoli Gardens and castle estates in North Zealand.
- Odense, on the island of Funen: a moated Renaissance castle and historic manor houses.
- Aarhus, Denmark’s second city: a Renaissance castle and a rooftop ceremony at Scandinavia’s largest art museum.
- Aalborg, North Jutland’s main city: an 18th-century city hall and a medieval castle turned hotel.
- Esbjerg, on the Jutland coast: a seaside bathhouse hotel and Denmark’s oldest town hall, in nearby Ribe.
Your Denmark Wedding Photographer
I’m Dejan, a Denmark wedding photographer.
My focus is always the wedding itself, not performances for the camera. The photos are simply a reflection of the day: genuine, calm, and emotionally grounded.
I take my work seriously, but never myself too seriously. A relaxed atmosphere, clear communication, and quiet confidence make all the difference, especially for destination weddings.

From the moment we met Dejan, he made us feel completely at ease. He has a calm and kind presence, and captured every emotion of the day in a way that felt honest and natural. Nothing felt forced or over-posed, yet he was always in the right place at the right time. His work feels intimate and timeless, and we’ll treasure these photos for the rest of our lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Danish destination is the right fit for our wedding?
Copenhagen has the deepest bench of large-capacity venues and the easiest international flight connections. Odense and Esbjerg are each covered on their own page if you’re drawn to Funen or the Jutland coast instead, and the countryside and island venues on this page suit a smaller, more private celebration.
What’s the best time of year for a wedding in Denmark?
May through September gives the longest daylight and the most reliable weather, with June through August the warmest. An outdoor ceremony anywhere in Denmark should still have a weather-flexible indoor backup, since conditions can change quickly even in summer.
Which airport should our guests fly into?
Copenhagen Airport is Denmark’s main international gateway and the right choice for most of the country. Billund Airport, Denmark’s second-largest, is a useful alternative for guests heading to Jutland or Funen, including Odense and Esbjerg.
Do we need a wedding planner in Denmark?
For a historic property like Voergaard Slot, yes, since it’s set up primarily for tours and private events rather than running its own in-house wedding team. Nimb Hotel runs more of that coordination directly.
Can you photograph weddings across more than one Danish destination on the same trip?
Yes, this is fairly common, a Copenhagen ceremony with a few days built in for Bornholm, or a wedding in Odense paired with time on the Jutland coast near Esbjerg. I’m happy to build a multi-day or multi-city coverage plan around however your trip is shaped.
